A Leaders Keys to POWER

P – PRAYER
O – OBEDIENCE
W – WORSHIP
E – ENDURANCE
R – RELATIONSHIPS

Jesus made the promise to give us this power and authority in Matthew 16:18 when he said to Peter: “The gates of Hades will not be able to withstand or withhold the advancing church.” Jesus was going to build his church on this revelation of who He is… The church was going to advance. The gates of Hades could not withstand it.
Jesus is saying that he who is in us is greater than he who is in the world. His power is greater than the power of the enemy. When there is a head-on conflict between the power of the enemy and the power of God, the power of the enemy will lose every time.
How do we then live and walk in this power and authority?

Ephesians 1:18-22 (NIV) 18 I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, 19 and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength 20 he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, 21 far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every name that is invoked, not only in the present age but also in the one to come. 22 And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church

Power of Christ described as Supreme, unlimited, over all flesh, over all things, glorious, everlasting, able to subdue all things, it’s exhibited in creation, upholding all things, salvation, His teaching, working miracles, enabling others to work miracles, forgiving sins, giving spiritual life, giving eternal life, raising the dead, raising himself from the dead!!!

Key 1 to POWER: P – Prayer

Don’t pray when you feel like it. Have an appointment with the Lord and keep it. A man is powerful on his knees. ~ Corrie Ten Boom
James 5:16-18 declares, “…The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.

Corinthians 10:4-5 “The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ

The power of prayer is not the result of the person praying. Rather, the power resides in the God who is being prayed to and believed in.

Key 2 to POWER: O – Obedience

Have you ever made a decision to obey God as a way of life? I’m not talking about obeying once in a while but in every area to the best of your knowledge and ability. Or do you find that there are times when you struggle to do what you know is right and in keeping with His principles?

If we’re honest, there are times when all of us deal with this dilemma. Many times its not that we don’t know what the truth of God’s will is, but it may be that we want to do what we want to do. Secretly we hope that somehow we’ll get by…that’s not the way. Not only because it has consequences but also because it has some additional impacts:

  • Robs us of Confidence
  • Pushes us away from talking with God – Prayer

Deut 28: 1-3“If you diligently obey the Lord your God, being careful to do all His commandments which I command you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations of the earth. All these blessings will come upon you and overtake you if you obey the Lord your God. Blessed shall you be in the city, and blessed shall you be in the country

Key 3 to POWER: W – Worship

William Booth the founder of the Salvation Army used to say: “If a church was on fire for God, people for miles would come to watch it burn.” To paraphrase Booth: If believers experience the fire of God’s worship then lost people would be drawn to God like a moth to the flames.

In this house we emphasize worship as a lifestyle. It’s an understanding and experience of the all consuming and abiding presence of God.

We are the temple and He manifests His power in us and through us. Lay aside your troubles, your anxieties, your fears, and your cares. Celebrate God’s gift of mercy and grace; God’s touch of forgiveness; God’s power to lift you out of the slimy pits of life; God’s provision to set you on firm footing. Sing a new song. Sing a hymn of praise.

Worship releases the POWER of God – a declaration and proclamation that God “YOU are first in my life!”

Key 4 to POWER: E – ENDURANCE

12 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, 2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. 3 Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.

NLV (New Life Version) 12 Our fight is not with people. It is against the leaders and the powers and the spirits of darkness in this world. It is against the demon world that works in the heavens. 13 Because of this, put on all the things God gives you to fight with. Then you will be able to stand in that sinful day. When it is all over, you will still be standing. 14 So stand up and do not be moved.

The true lesson of endurance is not how strong or weak we are–its true lesson is that with God’s power we can endure anything–@RKBLUE

Key 5 to POWER: R – RELATIONSHIPS

Personal union with Christ gives believers this same divine power (Hebrews 6:5).

(2 Peter 1:3)3 We have everything we need to live a life that pleases God. It was all given to us by God’s own power, when we learned that he had invited us to share in his wonderful goodness.

(2 Timothy1: 6-7) 6 Therefore I remind you to stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands. 7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

He imparts His resurrection power to each of us the moment we believe so that we, too, can overcome the enemy, proclaim the message of the gospel, produce the “fruit of the Spirit” and persevere to the end.

(1 Cor 2:1-5 )When I came to you, I did not come with eloquence or human wisdom as I proclaimed to you the testimony about God.[a] 2 For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified. 3 I came to you in weakness with great fear and trembling. 4 My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power, 5 so that your faith might not rest on human wisdom, but on God’s power.
